What are the three types of muscles and what are their functions?

There are three muscles types. Skeletal or voluntary muscles move the bones of the skeleton. These muscles need an signal from the brain to contract.

Cardiac muscle makes the heart beat without conscious thought.

Smooth or involuntary muscle contracts without conscious knowledge from the brain. This type of muscle contracts and controls the blood vessels, bronchii of the lungs, digestive system, etc. Skeletal muscles are the muscles we work when we do resistance training.
